- Controlled drugs, including:
- Opioid pain medicines (morphine, oxycodone, hydrocodone, fentanyl)
- Anxiety medicines (Xanax, Valium, Ativan, Klonopin)
- Stimulants for ADHD or weight loss (Adderall, Ritalin, Concerta)
- Sleep medicines (Ambien, Lunesta)
- Some muscle relaxants (Soma)
- Cough medicines with codeine or hydrocodone
- Anabolic steroids, testosterone
- Abortion medications (mifepristone [Mifeprex, Korlym], misoprostol [Cytotec])
- Medicines that require in-person exams or tests for initiation and ongoing care
- Injectable medicines that need special training to use
- Specialty medicines that require monitoring by a specialist
- Compounded drugs from compounding pharmacies (generally see an in-person doctor)
- HIV medicines (typically see an in-person doctor for PrEP or PEP drugs)
- Lifestyle medicines (smoking cessation program drugs to quit smoking)
